The Coach bag has been ordered, but it has not yet arrived. Before I found that bag, I saw this one, which, aside from being outside of my budget, was either too large or too small.
However, it lead me to the Akris website, where I saw many interesting things, most specifically this coat in double faced cashmere. I adore it. I also recognize that it is probably much too bright.
A few days later, after I ordered the Coach bag, I went back to look at the Akris website. Somehow, I hadn't looked at the fall collections in February, perhaps because I was moving in to my new house at that time. I was perfectly happy to retreat indoors, avoiding the 100 degree plus heat, and dream of cool weather and cashmere.
I am particularly taken with the use of color and texture in this collection, sometimes subtle, sometimes not, but really quite sophisticated in its colors and materials, including double faced cashmere, silk, horsehair, and leather.
I adore this dress.
I assume the dress shown under this short coat is similar to the green one. This is a much better shade of purple for me to wear, not that I will be ordering any Akris this fall.
The colors are used with subtlety and restraint. The materials also enhance the design. This is definitely sophisticated color-blocking for grown-ups.
I'll share a couple of more photos.
The critics were not happy with the fit of the pants.
The critics may be correct about the fit, I was not at the shows, but there is something elegant about the ease. The remind me of the feel of luxury and movement that I saw in the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit, and yet they are thoroughly modern.
