Belette, whose posts I look forward to with eager anticipation, has tagged me with a bit of a Q and A. Since I am bad at responding to things becaue I tend to obsess about them so long and get all caught up in the windy process of my thoughts that I forget what started the whole process in the first place, I shall respond forthwith.
(If you can follow that sentence you really deserve an award.)
Here are the guidelines:
1. Respond and rework. Answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own invention; add a question of your own.
2. Tag eight other un-tagged people.
What is your current obsesssion? Really? only one? Obviously you don't know me well. Flowers and plants for the garden I hope to have someday. Farm-fresh free-range eggs. Good Coffee. Figuring out how to make a perfect pizza crust (gluten-free). Music. Fashion. Style. (though you might not know that to look at me).
Good fika place? (That would be coffee to us non-Swedes) Applie Pie Bakery Cafe at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America).
Do you nap a lot? Not really. But I would like to nap more. I used to always say I wasn't a morning person or an evening person but a nap person. Ideally I like to get up early, stay up late, and take a snooze in the late afternoon. Unfortunately life rarely seems to work that way.
Who was the last person you hugged? My husband.
What's for dinner? Sauteed chicken breasts with morels and asparagus.
What was the last thing you bought? Really? A hearing aide for G.
What are you listening to right now? Silence; a precious commodity I am beginning to appreciate more and more.
What is your favorite weather? Crisp fall days which are a little brisk in the morning and then warm up a bit during the day, into the upper 50's or 60's and the leaves a symphony of color. The house scented with pumpkin and apple pies and warm crackly fires at night.
What is on your bedside table? An alarm clock; a flashlight, a photo of me and G; a photo of my paternal grandmother (for whom I am named) sitting under a tree, her eyes hidden by a hat; a small watercolor by G's friend Priscilla; A small silver box in which I store my rings when I go to bed; The Gentle Art of Domesticity, by Jane Brocket (and yes I have the English edition not the American one); my Kindle.
Say something to the person/s who tagged you. You are smart and funny and there have been times when your words are what have gotten me through my days.
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? Geesh, what an impossible question, but one I actually thought about some last year when things were rather dark around here (nothing like fantasizing about another life when things are bleak). Paris, Madrid, New York, or San Francisco, each for different reasons. If there is a city that is the perfect combination of the four, please let me know.
Favorite Vacation Spot? A city I can walk around in. See above for starters.
Name the Things you would rather not live without. Well I reworded this very slightly as I really can live without most things but not necessarily people(and have tested that on occasion). perfume, sunscreen, mac book, notebooks, good chocolate, good coffee, red wine. I know its out of fashion but I'd terribly miss a good steak as well.
What would you like to have in your hands right now? a double espresso.
What is your favorite tea flavor? Earl Grey or, in a pinch, English Breakfast.
What would you like to get rid of? Guilt and doubt. Clutter and things that are not absolutely necessary or beautiful.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? The Rothko Chapel.
What did you want to become as a child? An actor, an astronaut, a writer, a Renaissance woman.
What do you miss? My father's stories. Bourbon. I have a lovely bottle of Basil Haydn if anyone wants it.
What are you reading right now? Blogs, Fallen Founder, The Collected Poems of Christopher Middleton, The Gentle Art of Domesticity, The Boleyn Inheritance, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The New York Times. No wonder I feel like I never get anything done.
What's your favorite brand of jeans? Why can't I find an easy answer to anything? I'm not particularly loyal to any one brand but my three current fave's are by: Joe's Jeans, Wörn Jeans, and Banana Republic.
What designer piece of clothing would you most like to own (new or vintage)? Something by Ralph Rucci.
Form or Function? form.
